INDD-304-S001-2023: Design + Make

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of designing for production and manufacturing techniques for wood-based production.

Through a series of lectures/demonstrations/field trips, the student would be exposed to a broad perspective of different manufacturing methods and systems that are required in the production of wood-based products.

Working in teams of 3 students will design a compact accessory item and the system or means of how to safely and efficiently reproduce that item in limited quantities (5 to 10 units depending on size and complexity) its packaging and branding to a predetermined maximum retail price point of $75.

At the conclusion of this class, the students will design, output, and mount an exhibition space within the context of the store to communicate and sell their products.
