Recently, software purchases have added to faculty workload without any perceivable benefits (Syllabi manager, Romeo). If you chose to buy some software to program spaces, please do some serious usability research. One example of software that works well for us is Slideroom, for instance. Also, if you are purchasing software of any type, please consult with faculty about it. We are experiencing clerical workload creep, some of which is brought on by software.
