When we talk about cultural competence, I think we need to think about ways that we broaden and extend our curriculum to reflect many cultures and cultural practices. And of course that means we need to not only support faculty, but all of the others who participate in curriculum development and delivery and support.
I can't quite remember the wording, but the idea of building cultural competence needs to start here with our curriculum, our diversity initiatives, our orientations, our faculty development. I am absolutely in favour of building opportunities for exchange, but we already have such an active exchange of cultures happening here. How do we support that? And facilitate more of it?
