Design for Startups toolkit

I would like to suggest that we figure out how to more widely adopt the model we've developed through Living Labs  with the Design for Startups project - this is a model that standardizes industry partnerships, effectively 'accelerating' them, to engage a wider range of companies, organizations and students in a way that bridges research and curriculum, creates an economy of scale with faculty time, and fits within the semester cycle. The model has been tested mainly with early stage technology companies but could be used in many other disciplinary contexts and if we had broader support we could massively scale up. Here is the toolkit we published: http://d4s.ecuad.ca/

Goal 3: Develop policy and pathways for experiential learning

  • Develop and/or standardize industry partnerships
  • Develop and maintain a student Design Works that responds to the University’s communication needs
  • Include our alumni as an integral part of the ‘virtuous circle’ — mentoring or employing students as interns or in course-based projects
