(This feedback was gathered by ECSU at two sessions that included ECSU board directors, student representatives on University Committees, Graduate students, and Foundation year and other students. Including it here verbatim.) KL

"Currently, it feels as if faculty members do not have an understanding of what graduate students are researching. In order to develop curriculum, faculty need to be able to see the ways that grad students are practicing their own research so that they can have another perspective to practices and teaching methods. There should be a way for graduate research projects that are under development to be shared with all of the core and sessional faculty.

If faculty is exposed to grad students’ research, new conversations can emerge and integrate into the curricula. However, it is difficult to get faculty to attend presentations, as they are always busy teaching or attending meetings. Graduate students also need more access to funding or funding opportunities. Currently, there is little incentive amongst some students to work within the school and merge research with curricula when they are struggling to make ends meet."
