New Materials- Cork Studio + uses cork as the basis for material-driven design. Integrating research, systemic thinking, and hands-on DIY experimentation, this course will give students the skills to develop a product or an idea using a material's properties and qualities as the guide. Students will learn about current and emerging materials and material processes, develop the tools for wide-ranging research, and apply maker skills in the creation of a cork object. Working in teams, students will take cork from a raw material to a formalized design prototype, with a focus on executing strong communication skills in both 2D and 3D.
