FNDT-165-F034-2021: Interdisciplinary Studio Core. This
course focuses on embodied learning and making, combined with thinking
and doing in relation to critical issues of our time—climate change,
ecological degradation and species extinction. The assignments and projects explore ways to decolonize creativity and generate action. Students
are invited to develop their observational and production skills, and
explore how this leads to discovery, creativity and critical making.
Students will be asked to engage with local indoor and outdoor spaces
for material gathering, and explore how creativity emerges in relation
with the world. Techniques and methods used in the projects include
walking, listening, photography, drawing, sound and video production.
Students will engage with self-reflective processes throughout the
course. Students will have opportunities to workshop their creative
output with their peers, and work collaboratively. Classes combine
classroom and field workshops, work sessions, discussion, with online
sessions.
