This course introduces illustration as a tool of the creative process, as well as a discipline in its own right. It provides students with techniques that have historically played a role in various forms of communication and media. Each project in this class will be treated as a real-world illustration job assigned by an art director, with iterative research, sketching, proofing, correction, and finalization stages. A variety of tools, methods, modes, materials, and procedures will be explored. Illustration will be examined in terms of process, technique, concept, and final form.
