This course is a continuation of DHIS 101 in which students explore design culture, literature and manifestations in language, image, artifact, time, space, and experience. The historical relationship between design and the social, cultural, political, and technological contexts in which it is created is integral to studio practice in order to foster critical discrimination and awareness in our mediated culture. Students attend both a lecture and a seminar. Assignments include essays and research projects which bridge and integrate with studio pursuits.
