Introduces issues relevant to painting today and develops painting
skills. Students acquire a basic knowledge of the formal and technical
aspects of historical and contemporary painting practices. Assigned
projects will acquaint students with an exploration of both
traditional and non-traditional painting materials, as well as
experimentation with processes of collage, abstraction and an
introduction to conceptual painting. Classes combine discussions,
reading, demonstrations, individual and group critiques. Painting 200
and 210 can be taken in any order, and students require both to
take PNTG 310: Painting: Advanced[1] Advanced Painting.
