This is a group-based course designed to facilitate the development of students' independent bodies of work. The course is structured around class critiques and one on one meetings with the instructors. Students will work closely with one another and with the instructors while actively producing new works for critique throughout the term. Students are expected to be actively engaged in studio practice and realize new directions in their practice, while working towards creating a significant body of work. Students will develop methods of thoughtful engagement and reflection, and the ability to support the work and development of fellow artists while sharpening a sense of purpose in their own research and production. Students in this course will be better able to critically analyze each other's work as well as develop a stronger basis for self-critique.
