This third year course offers the opportunity for students to develop their practice grounded in contemporary and historical cultural discourses. Students will develop research capabilities that lead to the creation of a framework, concept, and long-term project goals. Through group critiques, class discussions, as well as individual and group presentations of research, students will develop a self-driven examination of this concept via processes of exploration, evaluation, and iteration. Students will further focus on skills concerning deadlines, project elaboration, creating presentations, public speaking, leading discussions, writing, as well as integrating research within their creative practice.
