Visual design uses illustrations, photography, typography, space, layouts, and colour to convey meaning through a variety of channels, from printed graphics to digital interfaces. In this course, you will develop a foundational knowledge of visual design through playful experimentation and design thinking. Through hands-on projects, you will learn to employ different elements of design and apply essential design principles (such as unity, hierarchy, balance, scale, and contrast) to create engaging visual communication pieces. Apply the skills you acquire in this course to a wide range of disciplines, including communication design, creative coding, graphic design, illustration, product design, UX/UI design and web design.
