In this interdisciplinary section of Praxis 300, students working across a variety of media and methodologies will work together to identify key concepts and societal concerns of importance to their practices. Students will be guided in bridging practice and theory to better understand what is at stake for their practices in preparation for their 4th year degree projects. Course activities will support students in undertaking methodological and academic research towards the creation of a self-guided studio project. Studio exercises will emphasize strategies for critical research, while exhibition visits, writing workshops, interviews with artists and readings will engage students in centering their practice within the wider field. Course outcomes will include a self-guided term project and an interactive praxis publication. This course is open to students working within interdisciplinary art modalities, or coming from various artistic approaches in visual art, media art or curatorial practices.
