The story I chose is "The Two Travelers". I decided to depict the story with taking the birds as sort of protagonists, and distinguish the personality of good man and bad man with warm and cold color palette respectively. Besides these, I drew many plants around. The plants of good side are rounded and vivid, while the bad ones are sharp and withered. I also added some simple scenes in the corner to express the plot as completely as possible, but I don't want to make it that accurately, because this is my intention to leave people space for curiosity and imagination.

Description of Work:

I have illustrated one of the scenes in rendition of "HANSEL AND GRETEL" in Amazon river wildlife version. I did the character concepts and researched the sources such as underwater setting of Amazon's flooded forest and the freshwater fishes of the Amazon, as in the process of featuring the underwater jungle and fishes they will going to eat, as the siblings will be Amazon river or pink boto dolphin calves. This is the scene where our young protagonists discover the area where there is still plenty of fish during the dry season, in which they did not know, guarded by a hungry green anaconda. There are also character concepts that their mother is a kind, real mother and the Jaguar queen took role as a stepmother who captured Hansel and Gretel's parents.

I chose the two travellers. My idea was an illustration of an inside page so it did not include two people.I think the most interesting thing is that the good man picked off the flowers for the princess.I think there are a lot of people who illustrate two opposite people but I only draw one because I think the good man will still choose to help the princess no matter there is a bad person or not.

The story I chose was “The Two Travelers”. Although there are different versions of this story, the central idea tends to always be karma - the good one gets rewarded and the bad one gets punished. Unfortunately, it does not always happen in real life.

I want to blur the lines between the good and bad. For my interpretation, I decided to illustrate how the good traveler takes revenge. He told the bad traveler about his magical encounter with the birds, after commanding the birds to gouge his eyes out. I chose doves for the sake of contrasting the good traveler’s change in character.

I decide to do a one sheet of Childe Rowlnad. I implemented a lot of the visual description simplifying certain things. I tried to get a sense of danger by making the branches that hold the gems and wrap around pillars come down like temdrils. I decided to go for a half and half composition where I split the page using the dark tower as a black to create a negative shape and divide the page where the left is part one of the story and the right is part 2. Also added in a window to the tower to focus the eye and draw it in using the clouds. I did 3 hills to symbolize the 3 people childe rowland goes through including the cow herder, horse herder and the henwife in her hut. I used the drapes in the bottom right corner to imply a character. I tried to get the character in the scene but couldn’t get it to compositionally work.

I chose Urashima Taro and The Sea Princess. The main subject of illustration is the box given to Urashima Taro by the princess of the Sea. This box is described in the story as containing Urashima Taro's youth. The image inside the box is therefore of Urashima taro being carried by a turtle to meet the princess of the Sea. The box is inspired by the traditional Japanese bento box. The string used to pack the box is seaweed. I tried to create some doctored texture to the box. I originally painted the lid of the box with a dragon design, but it seemed to clutter up the picture a bit. So I removed it.

Description of Work:
Based on “The Ghoul And The Youth Of Ispahan”. The story talks about a person who encounters a ghoul, other versions have it encounter a giant. In this story the youth tricks the ghoul by outsmarting them. Convincing the ghoul that the youth is stronger, while the ghoul is actually much stronger. I chose to draw a giant that is made from the forest, while making the youth a magician playing tricks on the giant. Since in the story the youth is a trickster, I felt that making them a magician was fitting.
