I tried to paint this one. Life has made some unexpected decisions and I feel pretty overwhelmed. This seemed fitting for this project.

The second image I warped the reflections, I can't decide which is more fitting.

This is the project that I worked for a long time, which is a Movie Poster of a policeman story based on an "Happy Birthday Accident" in my childhood when I was 7, when I came home there was completely dark, I was scared and picked up a bottle to self-defend, in the dark and vertigo-heartbeat, I hit someone and he was yelling:"Hey!stop hit me kid! ", the light was turned on, turns out that man is my dad, my mom was shocked holding a birthday cake. In this movie the hero is a man who is 45or 48, he is a police and he has cooperated with the border drug dealer for 5 years, he get bundles of money every month, one day one of the drug dealers was arrested, he is too scared to driving home, after he opening the door, there was dark in his house, a shadow slipping in front of him and he Double Tap the gun at once,2 shots, the shadow has been taken down, but  there comes a voice:"omg, what did you do to our son!?", turns out the shadow is not an enemy or drug dealer, but his son, his wife freaks out and holding a birthday cake and says:" Today is your birthday, we just wanna give you a surprise, what's wrong with you?", his son lying on the floor and bleeding, he realizes that he screwed up, and take his son to the hospital..........

I got new comics around the time I started this assignment so I decided to make a comic book cover!

The memory I based it on was me and a friend racing to try and catch a bus to the ferry home from Victoria last year. We almost missed the last ferry of the day! The characters featured are characters I specifically made based off of me and that friend; the green dragonfly is Delia, and the purple firefly is Nadia! I added a spiralling clock in the background because I saw it representing the myth of Greek god Kairos, god of the "fleeting moment".

This final assignment was a lot of fun :)

Ended up choosing the "meeting the mentor" prompt. Instead of an actual flesh-and-blood person, a sort of mentor to me was the one video game series I got really, really into when I was around ten. It acted as an entire paradigm shift at the time, as well as serving as a huge artistic influence today.

I feel a little nostalgic when thinking about the illustrator's journey. I graduate this semester and have been doing a lot of reflecting on my time at Emily Carr over the last four years, two of which were online. For my final piece for this class I wanted to echo the piece I made as my Emily Carr-specific required artwork when I applied four years ago! Four years ago I drew a one shot illustration The End of the Fucking World (not that I knew what a one shot illustration was back then) because it was my favourite show at the time. For this final project I drew Sophia Coppola a la Albrecht Durer holding objects that represent my favourite of her movies, The Virgin Suicides, Lost in Translation, and Marie Antoinette. I have a lot more to say about the drawing but I'll wait 'till crit tomorrow:) I've had a great time at Emily Carr, despite the pandemic. It's bittersweet to finally be leaving, but I'm happy that Amory gave us this Illustrator's Journey prompt because I feel like this project is a good way to say goodbye:')

Illustration of me on a walk for the stage "Crossing the Threshold". I wanted to replicate feelings that overcome me on my walks. Tried to capture the action of looking really deeply at the city within the composition and imagery of the piece itself.
