Hello everyone,

Here’s a shout-out about an event that will be held on Tuesday, March 7th in the late afternoon, something you should attend.

You’ll find it interesting!

There will be an Animation Alumni Panel, when four Emily Carr grads will speak about their careers and practices in the field.

The panel will be on:

  • Tuesday, March 7th
  • 5:00 - 6:30 pm
  • In the Mocap Studio, North Building, Room 285e

This is part of “Creative Careers Week,” organized by the Career & Professional Development Office.

The panelists are Ceci Veloso, Kaho Yoshida, Eric Bates, & Sitji Chou.

Team are all actively working in the creative animation industries, including 3D computer animation, video games, visual effects, motion graphics, and animation (including 2D and stop-motion).

More information about what they’ve been up to, and when they graduated, is listed below.

You will be sure to find them to be warm, friendly, and fun, ready to share all sorts of stories about their careers after Emily Carr, plus tales of their 4th year films and time in the Animation Program.

Career Week Animation Alumni Panel: Animation at the Speed of Life

Emily Carr Animation Program Alumni return to talk about their experiences in developing their careers in animation. This diverse group represents a variety of interests and backgrounds, as well as how long they’ve been out of school and in the work force. As part of this panel discussion, time is devoted to audience Q + A, as well as time to informally talk one-on-one.

This is highly recommended for all animation-interested students.

Eric Bates
Grad Year: 2003

Eric Bates has worked in the animation industry on large scale projects at an international level. His specialty focus includes animation and effects for feature film and video games.

Cecilia Velasco
Grad Year: 2011

Cecilia Velasco has worked in various projects ranging from independent short films to big production AAA games, TV and Film. Although she specializes in 3D character animation, she has also worked freelance in various other capacities such as 2D animation and compositing, graphic design, storyboarding and illustration.

Sitji Chou
Grad Year: 2011

Sitji Chou has worked in various projects that emphasize a small studio approach to animation, supporting both experimental and traditional production approaches. His work includes direction, character animation, design and motion graphics.

Kaho Yoshida
Grad Year: 2015

Kaho Yoshida has been working as a freelancer on numerous projects for small studios. Her 2015 senior project “Michi” is finishing the festival circuit and has won numerous awards. Professional work includes commercials, music videos, children’s programming, storyboarding, animation, and concept art.
